This window frame card using the Rustic Retreat stamp set by Stampin’Up! was inspired by my son’s love of the wilderness. I made the card for his recent birthday. With the release of the mini catalogues the Annual Catalogue tends to get sidelined. The Rustic Retreat stamp set can be seen on page 57 of the Annual Catalogue.
The window frames were created using the versatile Layering Squares dies. You just have to have these in your stash for creating layered mats, frames and sentiment labels. The card colour I used for the frames is Soft Suede.
The window background is watercolour paper that I have washed over with a wash of Balmy Blue ink and water using a water painter pen. The stamped images were coloured using watercolour pencils, then fussy cut and applied to the wash background. The window frame was then added and made to pop off the page using foam adhesive strips.
The background panel is from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper pack to give a wood appearance and the base card is 6×6 Cinnamon Cider card front.
My son loved his card. It is heartwarming when your children appreciate the effort that goes into their cards. My cards stay on display for the year until his next birthday comes along!
