I created this Stampin’ Up! Pretty Medallion card when I was away on retreat back in October. Among the seven of us there, we all had a play creating with this big background stamp and we had so many different ideas on how to use it. I will share a few of my creations in another post. If you are interested there is one of the cards in an earlier post sharing the swaps we made at the retreat, see it here.
I don’t usually don’t do big cards however this big stamp gets cut off if done on a regular size card front. Hence the creation of a 6×6 inch card front. The medallion image was heat embossed in gold on Night of Navy card, then trimmed to a hexagon.
The backing is gold brushed foil. Once this piece was layered onto my 6×6 inch Night of Navy card base I was at a bit of a loss as to how to finish off the card. After a lot of pondering I left it overnight and came back first thing next morning and added the For You greetings from the stamp set Amazing Year, which were also heat embossed in gold.
The die used to cut them is from Stylish Shapes die set. I get so much use from this set of dies. You really should have them in your die collection as they are such a versatile set of dies.
A Brushed Metallic dot added the final flourish and my card was completed. I was very pleased I had held off trying to finish it the night before. It always pays to leave a project and come back with fresh eyes when you find yourself going around in circles unable to make a decision.
