Here’s another New Horizons Paper idea for you. If you sign up for my Class in a Kit in May you will receive as part of your kit half a pack of the New Horizons Papers. So many of the designs are interchangeable with the different card ideas presented in my class in a kit or the other ideas I have shared here on my blog. Like this one from my last blog post.
Todays card actually started out as a simple card with the Stripes & Spatters embossing folder embossed directly onto the card front of the base card. I had added the die cut circle from Stylish Shapes, adhered the sentiment die cut but wasn’t happy with the result. So decided to add in the flock of birds in flight from the coordinating stamp set, On the Horizon. The added stamp images looked great and did the trick, however I had a dirty great smudge where the ink had caught the rubber and transferred onto the card front! You know the feeling when you do that and how annoyed with yourself you are!!!!
The only way to rectify was cut the card front either side of the embossed area. Stamp the birds first onto a new Thick Basic White folded card base. Add the embossed card piece with its die cut. Then add the die cut sentiment. Card completed and I am happier with this than the first version!
The Stripes & Spatters embossing folder is a mini one suitable to run through the Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine. The two embossing folders in the pack both create really effective backgrounds. The Stripes folder when embossed looks terrific on both sides. Means you have to make a decision as to which side looks the best for your card.
The sentiment came from the Grassy Grove stamp set and the die used to cut it out is from the Waves set of dies. So many of the new die sets nowadays have fabulous label dies in them that can be used over and over again with other sets than their coordinating one. You just need to keep experimenting wit them.
