Hippest Hippos Card

To create my hippo ballerina line up I stamped the central image then I masked the image. Masking is not as hard as it sounds. To do this technique, stamp your image to be masked onto masking paper or a post it note. Fussy cut around the image cutting just inside the outline. Cutting inside the outline avoids getting gaps between your next stamped image and your original image when the mask is removed.

The images either side of the central one were stamped with the mask in place over the centre image. Colouring was done using Stampin’ Blends. Because I knew I would be using Blends I used Shimmery White card for my images to be stamped on. Shimmery White works so well with the Stampin’ Blends pens as the colours don’t bleed outside the stamped images as it tends to do on Basic White card. Plus you get that pretty shimmer effect with your card when you use Shimmery White cardstock.

Also when planning to colour with Blends alcohol pens always stamp with Memento ink. Your colours will run if you use an alcohol based ink like Staz – On.

When stamping images on blank paper with no background it is important to “ground” your images. To do this just add in a small area of light shading in a pale mauve or blue or grey at the base of your images. This then makes the image appear fixed to the page and not floating in the air.

If you are wondering about the dies used. They are the Stitched Rectangles and the Scalloped Contours die sets.
