Idea For Using Patterned Papers

I love it when I see a new idea for using patterned papers! The Hues of Happiness papers work really well using this idea.

It’s a simple process that involves placing a strip of your chosen patterned paper onto your folded base card. Your top layer card rectangle gets cut on the diagonal. Cut your card mat 2cm smaller on the short side than you would normally use for your card front mat. I measured 2cm up from the bottom corner and added a pencil mark and measured the same distance down from the top diagonal corner and then using my trimmer cut from one pencil mark to the other to create the diagonal cut.

Adding die cut pieces or stamped and die cut images off to one side and positioned over the slit section then adds extra interest to the card. Stamp your greeting and add some embellishments and your lovely card is done.

My base card is Fresh Freesia to coordinate with the Hues of Happiness papers. The matching dies from the Happiness Abounds bundle were used to die cut the images from the Hues of Happiness papers, The greeting is from the same bundle. Also part of this lovely Hues of Happiness Collection are the embellishments – Glossy Dots Assortment. You can order these items using one code for the collection. If you haven’t got these pretty papers in your collection, have a look through your stash and see what papers you do have that will work with this technique. Once you have this technique in your repertoire you will be using it all the time!
