Slim Line Card Using Your Leftover Card Scraps

Slimline card using card scraps

I have drawers bulging with leftover card scraps and after another kit making session for my monthly Class in a Kit, I had even more! It was time to take some action! So I gathered up similar sized card strips and decided I’d try creating a slim line card. This particular card style is popping up everywhere lately.

My base was a piece of Whisper White card and I glued my strips along the card piece just eyeballing the distance between each strip. I didn’t cut the strips to any set length I just pasted them on and once they were all in place I trimmed off the overhang using my trusty Stampin’Up! shears. Sadly these big scissors are no longer available. I love my pair!

My completed striped piece was then glued onto a Basic Black mat and then this went onto a folded Poppy Parade base. The diecuts for the sentiment are from the Tasteful Labels dies. The cute little sentiment comes from the Beginner Brochure stamp set Four Season Floral.

If you’d like to give a slim line card a try here are the dimensions I used.

Card base – 8.5 x 7 inches scored at 3.5 inches on the 7 inch side,

Basic Black mat – 8.25 x 3.25 inches

Whisper White mat – 8 x 3 inches.

This card will fit into a standard business sized envelope here in Australia.

This card will make a great card for one of my son’s upcoming birthdays! Go ahead and get out those card scraps and create a storm and empty those scrap drawers!
