Today I am sharing how to do one design three ways. Each card is a step up from the one before it. We tend to call them Beginner, Casual and Avid card designs.
Beginner cards are for those just starting out on a cardmaking journey or those of us who like a quick and easy card. Casual card designs are a bit more detailed, have some elements added and some stamping or die cutting. Avid has lots of extra little details, takes more time to create, can have a technique used as an element, and layers.
Now I tend to fall into the casual crafter category. I can do avid if I want to however I prefer to get my cards done in a releatively quick time so I can move onto my next project. I will do an avid card if I know the recipient will appreciate the time, thought and effort put into their card.
The Dainty Flowers Designer Series Papers are proving to be very the most popular choice as a Sale-a-bration product with my customers. Most of them have ordered the matching Dainty Delight Bundle to qualify for the Sale-a-bration Dainty Flowers DSP selection. The design I’ve used for my cards from this paper pack is so pretty. If I had wanted to go simpler for the beginner card below I could have just stamped the greeting straight onto the paper. I confess I actually did that and to my eye the greeting got lost so I stamped and punched it out using the Double Oval punch.
So nice and quick is the beginner version. Cut your paper, layer onto a card mat, then onto the base cards. Stamp and punch out the greeting and add it to the card, popping it up with Dimensionals. You get get a dozen done in no time at all!
To step up the beginner design. add some stamping onto the card mat using the coordinating Dainty Delight stamp set. Trim the paper corners and add a linen thread bow.
To go up to the next level of crafting for an avid card, I have done extra stamping bringing in another colour onto the card mat. Next I trimmed around the paper design. Deckle Edge dies were used to create an interesting edge to the card mat. Another layer was added to the punched greeting along with a swirl of linen thread and a double thread bow.
The Dainty Flowers papers are only available while Sale-a-bration is running. Sale-a-bration ends February 28. So if you haven’t placed a Stampin’ Up! order over $90AUD this year you still have time to get your hands on this very pretty pack of papers. See another design from the Dainty Flowers papers in this post.
Happy Stamping and Cardmaking!
