Vintage tools card

Here’s another idea for Vintage Tools stamps out of the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue. I made three cards using this stamp set when I was creating a card for my eldest son’s birthday. I ended up giving him this card which you can see if you click here.

For this card I used one of the Split Texture dies and Deckled Rectangle dies. Having a set of layering dies in your die collection gives you so many options when it comes to your card making and scrapbooking. There are several layering die sets in the two catalogues. I get a heap of use from my various layering die sets. So if you are starting out on your paper crafting journey, having a set of layering dies should feature high up on your wish list.

Adding some ink around the edge of the stamped card piece added some aging to the whole card appearance. This was done using a blending brush. Have you seen the new mini blending brushes in the Mini Catalogue? Great for using on smaller card pieces or an area that you want the ink colour confined to. Remember when blending to start applying the ink off the card piece on scrap paper and then move onto the card, This stops a heavy area of ink happening on your card. The aim of blending is to build up the colour gradually.

As well as the new mini blending brushes there is also now a brush holder for your blending brushes. A useful addition to your storage options as it keeps your inked brushes separate from each other. I store mini in a pretty glass jar but I do have to be careful when putting a freshly inked on back in that it doesn’t touch one of the other brushes and transfer the ink to that brush.

I’ve used the Vintage Tools set for this card however you could adapt the card design to any stamp sets you have in your collection. So I hope you find this idea for the Vintage Tools stamps useful and will come visit my blog again soon for more ideas.

Happy Stamping!
