The Stampin’Up! Spiral Dye background stamp offers so many opportunities to make great cards. I have made five cards using this stamp for my Inksationals Team Creative Challenge. This is the first card I shared with the team.
On our Facebook Team page each month I run a Creative Challenge whereby two team members create 4 – 5 cards using a stamp set I give them to keep in their collection. One of the fun aspects of being a member of my Stampin’Up! team! Each week they share a creation they have made using that stamp set to give other team members new ideas on stamp sets they may not have considered ordering. It’s a fun activity enjoyed by everyone who participates.
This month I decided I would take on the challenge and the Spiral Dye stamp was my choice to create my challenge cards with.
The trick to getting a good image with this big background stamp is to use a stamp positioner such as Stampin’Up!’s Stamparatus. The big stamps get very heavy and awkward to handle when placed onto a big clear block. Using the Stamparatus makes the whole stamping process so much easier. If you happen to not get a good image on the first stamping you can easily reapply ink to your stamp and restamp as the position will be perfectly in place.
To get the two colour effect, stamp the spiral image once in your first colour choice. Have the card position marked on your Stamparatus grid paper. Turn the card piece 180 degrees realigning it with the marks on your grid paper. Clean off your stamp, reapply a new colour ink to the stamp and stamp the image.
I have used Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay inks for my card. The image was stamped onto Basic White card. I applied Night of Navy soft pastel to a sponge dauber and blended that onto the card to create the soft blue background.
The greeting a butterflies came from the Hippo Happiness stamp set and were die cut using the coordinating die set Hippo & Friends.
